A woman who alleges to have been conned of a cool KES 1 million has now appealed to popular blogger Cyprian Nyakundi after the legal system started playing cat-and-mouse with her case.
Below is an excerpt of a letter written by the woman to the blogger in abject frustration.
“Hi Nyakundi.
I’m Abigael. I’m just stressed out. There’s this guy who conned me out of 1 million.
I reported him on 19th January and he was arrested and detained at Nairobi Central Police Station.
The following day he was given cash bail of 100k.
I was told he was supposed to pay the amount in 3 weeks, but after 3 weeks passed I was told the file wasn’t ready.
Then yesterday I was told that the guy has agreed to go to court without my consent.
To my surprise, he even knows the exact date he’s supposed to appear in court, but I’m unaware and they say the file is with the ODPP.
I reported the matter to DCIO, and he promised to help, but to my surprise, he changed and told me to stop visiting his office all the time.
I feel like the guy is paying them off. He’s a project manager at Camusat (Telecommunications) Nairobi.”
