Police Launch Probe in Sudden Death of Siaya Businessman

Police in Gem Wagai in Siaya County have launched a probe into the puzzling death of a 61-year-old businessman who collapsed and died at Akala Market on Wednesday.

The popular businessman Onyango Okinya collapsed and died inexplicably at his stall following hectic market day activity at the Akala Market.

Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the businessman collapsed and died at on Wednesday evening.

“The businessman, who has been identified as Onyango Okinya, is a resident of Wambusa village. He is said to have collapsed and died in his stall,” Kimaiyo added.

He also said that the matter was reported at Akala Police Station by Kanyadet Assistant Chief Michael Owindu.

“Officers from Akala police station visited the scene. The body of the businessman had no visible injuries,” police added.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that the deceased has been unwell for the last two months.

Okinya’s body was taken to Bondo Sub County Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem
