Police in Marsabit are investigating an incident in which a police officer shot himself dead in an alleged suicide on Monday at the Station.
Police Constable Victor Kipng’eno who was stationed at Turbi Police Station, is said to have gone to the toilet before shooting himself on the head.
He locked himself in the toilet in the morning and pulled the trigger. Officers who visited the scene found one spent cartridge. The gun issued to him was lying next to the corpse.
Confirming the incident, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) stated that investigations are underway.
The OCS added that they were following leads by checking his phones to find out who he might have contacted before taking his life. .
The body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem.
Kipng’eno is said to have been interacting well with his colleagues and did not show any signs of being frustrated or that he was having suicidal thoughts.

The National Police Service Commission established a counselling and rehabilitation centre to address psychosocial or stress-related problems affecting officers.
