Barely hours after a police officer of the rank of inspector was stoned to death by an angry mob in Rarieda Siaya County, another two police officers have been beaten to death in Transmara.
Police In Transmara are investigating the death of the two police officers who were beaten to death on Thursday night by an angry mob who mistook them for thugs.
According to sources the two police officers had gone to collect a debt from the home of a man who owed one of them money.
Incidentally, the debtor screamed out claiming that he was under attack by robbers.
One of the officers who was not in uniform whipped out a pistol, convincing the irate mob that they were indeed dealing with armed criminals.
The residents came out en-mass attacking the police officers and beating them up senseless.
Upon investigation, it was established that the person who claimed to have been attacked by thugs was also a police officer.
The case, therefore, involved 3 police officers; one of the officers owed another money and for this reason, the other officer escorted his colleague to the house of the one who owed money at night leading to the deaths of the two.
Elsewhere, police in Siaya County are in hot pursuit of suspects involved in killing a senior officer through mob justice in Rarieda.
Like in the Transmara case, the senior officer was known to his attackers who pelted him with stones, nonetheless, until he died. He was in the company of a junior officer who escaped with injuries. The two were raiding chang’aa dens in Rarieda.
In November last year, another police officer was knifed to death by assailants as he was escorting the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers. The incident occurred in Mahero area of Usonga Ward in Siaya County.
