Tinina is a seasoned journalist in TV. She was a mother to one girl.

Meanwhile, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Director of Communications Philip Etale has relayed his condolences to the family and friends of Rita Tinina.

According to reports, Tinina was scheduled to report to work at NTV on Sunday but she failed to turn up. With unanswered phone calls, her managers decided to go to her apartment in Kileleshwa where her lifeless body was discovered.

Taking to his X account on Sunday evening, Etale revealed how he learnt about Tinina’s death, further disclosing their encounter three weeks ago.

“… After Church I went back to the house and decided to take an afternoon nap. So sweet has been the nap. But upon waking up, I stumble on shocking sad news of the passing on of my friend, college-mate and colleague Rita Tinina.”

In his remarks, Etale revealed that during their encounter, Tinina joked about Etale accompanying Raila to Addis Ababa should he manage to win the African Union Commission chairperson bid, expressing her confidence that Raila would clinch the seat.

“..It is just three weeks ago that I met Rita at the KFC outlet on Kimathi Street. We had a good catch-up moment and she jokingly asked me “sasa Addis unaenda ama vipi?”.

“We laughed as she went over to the counter to collect her order which was ready. “All the best Philip. We pray for Baba to clinch the AUC position”, she said as she walked down the stairs and left me waiting for my order,” wrote Etale.

He further termed Tinina as a good friend, a simple girl, a journalist who stuck to the basic tenets of journalism, a role model to other female journalists and a person who was full of tenaciousness and a living tribute to good journalism.
