A new entrant into the Kenyan political space is Kenya Liberation Front (KELMO) Party .
Unapologetically the party whose headquarters are found in the leafy Karen suburb of Nairobi dubbs itself a revolutionary movement for all Kenyans who are fearless and radical.
KELMO is left, radical, anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and they don’t condone tribalism in all it’s manifestations.
According to Registration documents seen by DalanewsKe KELMO has successfully completed the requirements of the Registrar of Political Parties and could officially be launched any time soon.
It’s officials are serving elected Members of Parliament mostly affiliated to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
For the first time in Kenya’s political history a political movement has been born to cater for the interests of the country with its bedrock as Luo Nyanza without having direct links to Ajuma Jaramogi Oginga Odinga or his son Raila Amollo Odinga.
“KELMO will defeat imperialism and all it’s stooges in Kenya,” said an official who spoke to the writer on condition of strict confidentiality.
“As a movement we aim to capture political and state power through whatever revolutionary means possible in order to liberate our people and transform our economy for the benefit of all Kenyans,” the official said.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has formed the existing government of the Republic of Kenya yet it’s barely five years old. With strategy, foresight and prudent planning it’s possible that a party began on the basis of ideology should rise up and occupy its rightful niche in the national political discourse.
Remember during Kenya’s second liberation struggles it was not the popular Ford Asili of billionaire Kenneth Stanley Njindo Matiba that would form the government but the rather obscure Democratic Party (DP) of Emilio Mwai Kibaki.
KELMO is said to be bankrolled by influential individuals from the Luo community and it may not be a pushover in matters economic stamina. It also comes free of the tribalistic hangups that characterizes mainstream political units.
