In a statement dated 31st day of March 2024, the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has declared a nationwide crackdown on all civil servants and Government institutions misusing public funds.
The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has specifically announced that all civil servants and Government institutions engaging in the fraudulent procurement and misuse of public funds will solemnly be held accountable.
EACC further stated that those found culpable of the aforementioned crimes will definitely face charges.
The newly institutionalized nationwide crackdown is fostered towards curbing corruption and graft across all Government institutions in the country.
The strategic crackdown comes just a few days after the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) in its National Ethics and Corruption Survey ranked the counties of Nairobi and Machakos amongst the leading counties in terms of corruption.
The EACC has confirmed that contrary to speculation going viral on social media the crackdown is universal and does not target any specific county, individual or institution; but encompasses all civil servants and government institutions.
