Celebrated news anchor Yvonne Okwars has opened up about her decision not to have children despite being married to Andrew Matole for a decade.

The couple exchanged vows in December 2014, but their journey has been marked by speculation and curiosity regarding their choice to remain childless.

In a past interview with Ghafla Kenya, Okwara addressed the topic head-on, shedding light on her perspective and personal convictions.

When asked about the absence of children in their marriage, Okwara expressed a resolute stance, stating that she does not feel pressured by societal expectations to conform to traditional norms of parenthood.

“People talked. People said things. That’s what comes with having a job in the limelight,” Okwara remarked.

However, she emphasized that external opinions have never dictated her decisions, especially regarding such deeply personal matters.

”Ever. Because I’m such an intrinsic person, if there’s ever any pressure it would have to be from myself. Never from the outside world.” She said.

Despite the significant age gap between herself and Matole – he being 16 years her senior – Okwara reaffirmed that their bond as husband and wife remains strong.

”People talked. People said things. That’s what comes with having a job in the limelight, but again, no one lives my life but me. My husband is my best friend, we get along incredibly well, and none of these other issues have ever mattered.” Okwara asserted.
