Siaya County Director of Governor’s Press Mr. Ben Agina has tendered his formal resignation. The one-month notice will see the maverick Agina leave office on the 29th day of April 2024.
Agina has been in the service of Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo for the last 18 months which was also one of the most politically turbulent periods in the Nyalore administration.
The soft-spoken Agina leaves with his head high, having plied his trade as a true professional who avoided being drawn into the power shenanigans at the Executive.
Word on the grapevine has it that Agina’s resignation might be tied in with Raila Amollo Odinga’s anticipated move to the headquarters of the African Union Commission.
Few people recognize that before he assumed the role of Director of Governor’s Press in Siaya County the hardworking Ben Agina was Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign Secretariat’s Director for International and Diaspora Engagement.
It was Ben Agina and Velma Maumo, a lawyer who were Azimio representatives approved by IEBC to go inspect ballot papers in Greece ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
It was Ben Agina, again, who accompanied Baba on numerous foreign missions, including that famous one to Canterbury where Raila met Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, senior UK Government and House of Commons officials.
Ben Agina is a graduate of the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. He is a thoroughbred professional who plied his trade as a journalist without involvement in the shenanigans of power in the Executive while at the same time making sure that no detail escaped his notice.
Ben Agina is in his forties and hails from Nyamninia area of Gem Constituency. He will be remembered as one of the finest professionals who gave their best for the betterment of Siaya County.
