Eight people were killed in an early Tuesday morning road accident at Ngata Bridge in Nakuru County.
The accident occurred after a van rammed into a stalled truck along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway at around 5:30 a.m.
Eyewitnesses who were among the first responders to the scene said they retrieved the bodies of six adults and two children from the wreckage.
The private van was ferrying over 15 people to Kisii for an event, according to a preliminary report by the police.
As of 7 a.m., police said only one person had been confirmed to have survived. The survivor was a woman whose legs were broken.
Witnesses said the truck had been stalled at the spot for the last three days.
