Aisha Jumwa Speech Cut Short As Female Legislators Engage in Fisticuffs

There was drama in Muranga County when to female legislators decided to square it out physically at a women empowerment function presided over by Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa.

The event, held on Monday, April 15, was also attended by Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) Alice Wahome (Lands), and Simon Chelugui (Cooperative and SMEs).

The fight started after Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina accused Maragua MP Mary Waithira of maligning her during previous public gatherings, hence destroying her reputation.

The event was halted by security personnel as they tried to contain the situation. In a video circulating on social media, Aisha Jumwa can be seen on the podium ready to address the sizable crowd that had turned up but even before she could start her speech she’s left alone as people run, screaming and shouting headed to the tents where the fight was taking place.

The master of ceremony in the event then pleads with security to intervene while repeatedly asking what sort of embarrassment the two female legislators had brought on the community.
