BREAKING:6 Dead, 3 Rescued As KDF Chopper Crashes, Catches Fire in Elgeyo Marakwet

Three people have been rescued while six are confirmed dead as a Kenya Defence Forces helicopter crashed and caught fire a few minutes after takeoff in Sindar, Endo Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet.

A confidential memo circulated to military personnel indicates that six people were confirmed dead while three were rescued. The survivors have been evacuated by another chopper to the Moi Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

The tragedy occurred moments after the military aircraft took off at Cheptulel Boys Secondary School.

Although the total number of occupants who were in the helicopter is yet to be established, police have confirmed the number of casualties at five and rescued at three. 

Unconfirmed reports have indicated that one of the dead is a senior military personnel.
