Hundreds of individuals sought free treatment for various ailments at Kaluo Health Centre in North Alego Ward ,thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Gombe Women Group, Siaya County Department of Health and Sanitation, Kmet Kenya, Siaya Muungano Network, and Ciheb Kenya. The event, graced by First Lady Mama Betty Orengo as the chief guest, marked a significant milestone in the facility’s history.
During the event, First Lady Mama Betty Orengo unveiled the hospital plaque, commemorating its establishment in 1984, and inaugurated the Smart Start Siaya-Nyathi en Mwandu post, signifying a new phase of growth and development for the health centre.
The initiative aimed to promote community ownership of the facility and enhance its services, with the support of various organizations and the dedication of the Gombe Women Group. The event’s success underscored the community’s unity and determination to improve healthcare accessibility for all.
Mama Betty Orengo’s presence added prestige to the occasion, emphasizing the importance of healthcare initiatives in community development. Her interaction with young mothers, coupled with the donation of Nene Uji Flour for child development, left a lasting impact on the beneficiaries. The adolescent mothers expressed gratitude for Mama Betty’s generosity and pledged to use the nutritious flour to ensure their children’s healthy growth and development.
Mama Betty’s kindness and support resonated deeply with the community, instilling hope and encouragement for a brighter future. The event served as a testament to the power of collaboration and compassion in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
