BREAKING: Siaya County Assembly Approves Orengo’s Appointment of Collins Gordon Juma As Chairman of Public Service Board

The County Assembly of Siaya, has today, during its afternoon sitting, approved the nomination of Eng. Collins Gordon Juma as the next Chairperson of the Siaya County Public Service Board.

The approval follows recommendation by the House Committee on Appointments after a rigorous vetting exercise on Tuesday.

Courtesy of a report laid on the Floor by West Sakwa Ward MCA, Hon. Truphosa Odinga, the House recommended Eng. Juma’s appointment based on his satisfaction of Section 58 of the County Governments Act, 2012, read together with the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act, No. 5. of 2017.

In the vetting report, the committee recommended his appointment based on his general knowledge of the law on functions and powers of the Board.

During his vetting on Tuesday, Eng. Juma underscored his commitment to streamline and ensure proper governance at the County Public Service Board by promoting integrity, accountability and transparency in all activities initiated by the entity.

The 59-year-old Eng. Juma holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical) from Indian National Institute of Technology and a Master’s Degree in Operations Management from the University of Nairobi.

He hails from Gem Sub-County and is currently pursuing a PhD in Operations Management at the University of Nairobi.

Eng. Juma is a registered Consulting Engineer in Kenya and a Fellow at the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) and is currently the President of East Africa Engineering Organization and immediate past President of IEK.

Resultantly, the resolution of the House will be forwarded to the Governor, who will now formally appoint Eng. Juma as Chairperson of the Siaya County Public Service Board. He will replace the late Dr. Elijah Achoch who passed on in 2023.
