Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi is now a free man after he was left off the hook over the fake fertilizer scandal.

A report tabled in the National Assembly by Naomi Waqo led 11 member select committee exonerated the Cabinet Secretary from any wrong doing in relation to the fake fertilizer scandal.

Linturi had been accused of gross misconduct and violating the constitution following alleged sale and distribution of fake fertilizer to farmers.

In the motion, Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka had accused the CS of gross misconduct and violation of the constitution over the fake fertilizer scandal.

But the committee in it finds rubbished all the allegations saying they fall flat in the face of justice.

Though four members of the committee had a dissenting opinion, the law gives it to majority and the CS had seven members on his side.

However, the furious lawmakers backing the impeachment motion called for his sacking saying as the senior-most government official at the helm of agriculture ministry he bears the highest responsibility.

Mithika Linturi has survived many sacking threats including those brought against him over numerous sex scandals.

Voices of dissent have emanated from different quarters with Minority Leader in the National Assembly Mr. James Opiyo Wandayi saying that no matter what parliament does with Linturi each and every member of that special committee will have his day with fate.

Four members out of the 11 dissented to letting Linturi walk Scott free.

The mover of the motion to have Linturi impeached claimed that money was dished out to influence the decision against the Agriculture Cabinet Secretary.
