Grief has engulfed the entire community of St. Anthony Boys High School in Moiben Constituency, Uasin Gishu County following the sudden death of a teacher.
Madam Sharon Jelagat died under unclear circumstances. Reports indicate that the teacher committed suicide by drowning herself into a borehole over unknown reasons.
Police officers visited the scene and called the fire brigade to assist them in retrieving the body. Scores of villagers looked in disbelief as security officers carried the body away in a police vehicle, with some murmuring that the deceased ought to have shared her problems instead of committing suicide.
The body was taken to the local morgue for autopsy and preservation. Area police boss said they have started investigations to establish what really caused the teacher to drown herself.
Locals led by area Chief condemned the action and urged young people not to act out of anger.
The administrator urged the residents to share their problems to enable them get solutions when difficulties in the society.
While condoling with the bereaved family, her colleagues said Jelagat will be remembered for her dedication to duty.
