Kisumu County Senatorial aspirant Fred Odumo Nying’uro was this afternoon the guest of honour at a Harambee organized by the Church of Peace in Africa (C.P.A.) at the headquarters in Kana Galilee opposite Kianja Primary School Kajulu East, Kisumu East sub-County.
The funds drive was in aid of purchasing a church van. Among other invited guests was Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga.
Taking a swipe at Luo politicians a member of team Fred Odumo Nying’uro said it was commonplace to see aspiring politicians struggling to be seen donating at burials but rarely would they come out to join the faithful in construction of churches or to purchase church vans.
To the delight of the congregants the team went ahead and in style delivered Mr. Odumo’s generous contribution.
Apart from empowering young women and youth Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro has been agitating for equality in representation of minority religious groups especially the Muslim Community in Kisumu.
Recognizing the key role that religion plays in modelling the morals of a society, Wakili often quotes famous playwright George Bernard Shaw who said: “Morality without religion is a tree without roots; a stream without any spring to feed it; a house built on the sand; a pleasant place to live in till the heavens grow dark, and the storm begins to beat.”
Fred Odumo Nying’uro is eyeing the Kisumu Senatorial seat in the next General Elections just as the incumbent Senator Tom Ojienda is focusing on the Kisumu Gubernatorial seat. Wakili is a strong candidate and frontrunner in the senatorial race.
