Senior NIS Officer Commits Suicide by Shooting Self in Kilimani

A senior officer attached to the National Intelligence Service (NIS) has died by suicide in Kilimani area of Nairobi.

Although details have not been provided to the press, the officer is said to be holding a high service rank in the civilian intelligence agency and, besides, left a suicide note.

The tragic incident took place on Tuesday a the Kilimani area police quarters. The officer who lives alone failed to report for duty on Tuesday morning raising suspicions as to his whereabouts.

His phone also went unanswered, and a police source revealed that in the course of the day, his coworkers tracked him down to his Kilimani home, where he is said to have shot himself.

Sources confirmed that the officer left a suicide note.
