Ian Ngige Njoroge, the 19-year-old boy who was captured assaulting a traffic cop, has been charged with three counts of robbery, causing grievous harm and resisting arrest.
However, through his counsel, he stated that he was manhandled and fainted twice as a result.
Njoroge was arraigned before Milimani court where he was charged with robbery with violence.
It is stated that on the material day, he stole a police communication gadget belonging to CPL Jacob Ogendo and his mobile phone make Samsung Galaxy all valued at KES 50,000.
The incident according to court documents occurred on June 2 at Kamiti road in Kasarani jointly with others not before court. Consequently, he is charged with the offense of wounding Ogendo.
On the third count, the accused person is claimed to have resisted arrest by CPL Ogendo who at the time of resistance was acting in due execution of his duties.
Ian who is said to be a student shall be taken to Kenyatta National Hospital after he claimed through his lawyer that he was manhandled by the arresting officers and ended up fainting twice.
Further, the lawyer told the court that he was beaten at the police station since his clothes had blood stains on them .
Njoroge was on Sunday arrested in Kayole area of Nairobi following extensive circulation online of a video showing him assaulting a traffic police officer.
The teen revealed during grilling that he was mad at the officer for demanding a huge bribe which he did not have hence the altercation and the physical fight.
The suspect was captured assaulting an elderly cop who had fallen onto the ground and attempted to get up in vain as a result of a combination of kicks being rained on him.
