BURIED ALIVE: Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda Mock Burial For Voting Yes to Finance Bill

Business came to a standstill in Bondo town on Friday morning as a funeral procession marched through the town with a coffin purporting to carry the remains of the area MP.

“It is no longer a matter between Bondo Member of Parliament Gideon Ochanda and the Gen Z and millennials anymore but a matter concerning us, the voters,” said a middle-aged woman who was part of the procession.

The huge gathering stopped at the Bondo Constituency Development Fund offices where the leaders made speeches before returning to the heart of the town where a fire was set to the coffin.

Visibly angry residents claimed that by voting Yes to the repressive Bill, Ochanda had not only shown spite for the residents but to the Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party structure and its leadership. Mr. Gideon Ochanda was elected on an ODM Party ticket although his sympathies have always been with the United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.

Two other MPs from Siaya who have been ostracized for dalliance with the Head of State and the UDA Party, Gem’s Elisha Odhiambo Akuba and Langata’s Felix Odiwuor aka Jalas voted No to the Bill.

Ochanda has walked the gauntlet and it’s possible he could be the first Member of Parliament to be subjected to a recall.

“Bondo has youthful and effective public figures such as the CEO in the Siaya Public Service Board Mr. Nyagudi,” said a teen outside the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology main campus, adding “there’s no way we are going to vote in a sellout again. We’ve learnt not to trust elderly politicians.”

Standing with him was a girl with a neat plaque stating: The Only Thing Ruto Should  Raise Are His Children

“Next we are moving to churches. Ruto gave a lot of money to these greedy pastors. On Tuesday next week let them prepare for Gen Z,” said another youth who appeared to be leading the lot.

Curious to know how the youth had gotten hold of neatly-done banners and fliers in such short notice this writer followed a group of Gen Z to a cyber cafe in town where the youthful owner said he was printing the banners free-of-charge.

“This is my contribution to the movement. Rex Kanyike Masai did not die in vain.”

By the time of going to press calm had returned to the town but residents are still adamant that Ochanda should be banished.
