The government has deployed contingents of police outside Afya House at its environs ahead of the #OccupyAfyaHouse demonstrations by members of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU).
The medics inspired by ongoing countrywide demonstrations organized by the Gen Z have boldly declared that if their demands are not met they’ll occupy the ministry headquarters in Afya House.
While doctors are demonstrating over poor remuneration and work conditions the other demos have been influenced by high cost of living, corruption, high taxation from the government among other factors.
According to the latest news report by a reliable source on the ground there appears to be a standoff as the ministry and union engage in eleventh-hour talks.
Kenyans on social media have called on President Dr William Samoei Ruto to come out and address the doctors’ plight. They have criticized the government for going back on promises earlier made to the medics.
