Stop Embellishing Facts — Dr. Kut Ochogo Tells Detractors

Siaya County Chief Officer incharge of  Youth Affairs, Gender and Social Services Dr. Nicholus Kut Ochogo has pleaded with the youth to stop embellishing facts.

Responding to questions fielded by a concerned resident of Siaya, Dr. Kut said allegations that his office had misappropriated KES 30 million is not only weird but absurd.

“I would be the richest person in the county if I can walk away with KES 30 million without accounting for it,” said Dr. Kut, adding “whoever is pushing that narrative has been at it for some time now and anyone can see it is a witch-hunt.”

The Siaya resident had posed the question in one of the County’s main WhatsApp groups wanting to know where the KES 30 million allocated for vocational training centers in Siaya for financial year 2023/2024 had been taken. The resident claimed the money was squandered and nothing was disbursed to the Vocational Training Centres.

Dr. Kut responded that the information is in public domain and if the concerned resident bothered to check, he will be surprised to note that, indeed allocations and disbursements were undertaken in the financial year in question.

Other claims made by the Siaya resident were:
1. Most staffs under BOG had left because of the salary arrears.
2. No training materials.
3. Kplc has cut off most institutions from power due to their arrears.
4. Exam bookings had not been possible.

Dr. Kut responded to all the issues above in one word: sensationalism.

“The records are there for anyone to see. My office is a public office and if indeed there’s any matter I have failed to handle, as they often claim on social media, then there’s my boss, the CECM. Any sober person who wants to obtain facts would follow those channels before making a farce on social media.”
