A helicopter has crashed into the roof of the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in northeastern Australia early Monday, killing the pilot and injuring two hotel guests.
Queensland police have said the flight was “unauthorized,” and are investigating the cause of the crash which occurred shortly before 2 a.m. local time in the popular tourist destination of Cairns, in the state of Queensland.
The pilot died on the spot while two of his passengers were hospitalised and are reported to be in stable condition.
Emerging reports indicate that the pilot could have stolen the chopper.
