Siaya Sharks were on Sunday trounced 5-25 to mark their exit in the national round of Kenya Rugby Union’s 2024 Seven Aside Tournament.
The event held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Sports grounds in Kisumu brought together some of the finest rugby talent in Nyanza region.
Debutant Sharks who are playing in Division 2 proved themselves worthy competitors arraigned against rugby powerhouses whose skills and professionalism held spectators enthralled for the two days of the tournament.
Back home the Sharks have been struggling to make ends meet with open calls for sponsorship that no doubt affected their performance.
The team arrived back home last evening and is appealing to county authorities as well as corporations to stop paying lip service to sports as a powerful tool to unite the youth and instead provide tangible support.
