Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai is reportedly trying to make amends with Azimio leader Raila Odinga after a fallout during the Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival, also known as ‘Tobong’ulore,’ in October 2023. The governor is accused of organizing a mob to stone Odinga and stop him from addressing the crowd during the chaotic event.
Though these allegations have not been officially confirmed, reports suggest Lomorukai’s black vehicle was seen outside Odinga’s Karen home earlier today, sparking rumors of a possible reconciliation attempt.
Lomorukai is also facing legal challenges. He is under investigation for allegedly forging academic documents, and a court ruling is expected soon in Eldoret. The allegations have placed the governor under intense pressure as he awaits the court’s decision.
Despite the controversy, it remains unclear whether the governor’s visit to Odinga’s residence was connected to his legal troubles or a separate effort to restore his relationship with the Azimio leader.
As of now, the accusations remain unproven, and official statements from both sides are still awaited. The political future of Governor Lomorukai, especially in relation to the Azimio movement and his leadership in Turkana, may depend on the outcome of these ongoing developments.
