BREAKING NEWS: Latest Update on Morara Kebaso Arrest

Spread the love
Activist Morara Kebaso has been moved from the Regional Police Headquarters in Nairobi to an undisclosed destination.

According to a video posted on X by a user named Pareno Solanka (unverified account with 18,000 followers) the police moved Kebaso from DCI headquarters sometime around 11:00 pm using the devious police tactic of four speeding vehicles with three meant to be decoys.

A Prado in the entourage chased a Forester while a BMW chased a Tiguan only for each two to take different turns at a road cross section.

Vigilant protestors who had camped outside the police headquarters gave chase and are yet to report on the destination. If, indeed, earlier rumours leaked by a police insider are true then Kebaso is being moved to Nakuru where he’s destined to have a chat with a very senior government official.

The police are having a rough time of it as they have been forced to take the lengthy detour as if heading to Isiolo.

Earlier reports indicated that Kebaso was arrested by six masked men from his offices at Kahawa Sukari and only one flashed his identity to prove they were officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Fortunately, Kebaso was arrested in the presence of his lawyer who identified himself as Geoffrey.

“Once I opened the gate, they proceeded to the office where they handcuffed Morara Kebaso and took his phones, an iPhone and a Samsung as well as his laptop,” Geoffrey recounted details of the arrest to media outside the DCI headquarters late last night.

Kebaso was then bundled into a car in typical police abduction-style, registration number KCQ 166J and driven to the DCI headquarters.

Reasons for the arrest were not immediately given. Activist Morara Kebaso has ammassed incredible following over his exposés of corruption in government. The exposés which began as highlighting scandals in county governments have now morphed into the national limelight with the central government as its focus.

Meanwhile, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has called for the immediate release of Morara saying:

“It is appalling that abductions and arbitrary arrests are ongoing in the country. The young man Morara Kebaso MUST be released immediately or presented to court in the next few hours; or else this government will lose its legitimacy completely.”

Others that were triggered to reaction were the Gen Z agitators who have vowed to get back on the streets this morning (Tuesday) if the police fail to release Morara or produce him in court.

Before he was moved from DCI headquarters the police had to fire teargas to disperse a section of the crowd that kept growing in numbers outside the facility.
