It will also provide a stage to harness talents of local youths, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their skills while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
Under Hon. Onguru’s leadership, the tournament has underscored a commitment to steering the youth away from pitfalls of drug abuse and alcoholism by encouraging participation in sports.
While addressing Dero Soccer FC at Nyilima grounds on Saturday Mr. Onguru reiterated his commitment to hosting under 21 years players in an end year tournament to be held at Nyilima grounds.
“We must prioritize grassroots development, engage all stakeholders, and foster good governance to ensure meaningful progress,” said Onguru adding that the idea will empower youth, reduce crime, and provided livelihoods to families.
The tournament is not only about football, but also about building the community and providing young people with positive outlets for their energy and creativity.
Community members are encouraged to come out and support their teams fostering the spirit of camaraderie and unity among residents.
“This is an opportunity not only to entertain but also inspire young athletes to pursue their dreams both on and off the field,” said Onguru
Gor Mahia Soccer legends have backed the MCA’s initiative by acknowledging the importance of tapping youth talent at grassroots level.
The former Gor Mahia and Harambee stars players , John Bobby Ogola, George Onyango ‘Fundi’, Goro Oronge, Isaiah Omondi, Dan Omino, Laban Jobita, Tobias Ochola, Austine Oduor, David Ochieng Kamoga, Peter Ochieng Dawo, Mike Otieno and Jared Omolo Chonjo lauded the program saying it will encourage youth to stay away from drugs and crime.
“We have a robust and formidable plan aimed at transforming Kenyan football,” said Peter Dawo.
The legend reflected on his football journey, highlighting his deep understanding of the struggles in sport.
“We know where the shoe pinches,” Chonjo said adding “previously, we played soccer for fame but currently it pays good money,”
