Incoming Kisumu Senator Fred Odumo Nying’uro on Saturday donated 40 bales of mineral water to teachers from Nyakach sub-County as they celebrated their annual fun-day.

The drinking water as well as a small token of appreciation was handed over to Mwalimu George Osura at Kengen Grounds in Kolweny.

During the handing over by his team, Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro reiterated his support for the sporting initiative saying : “physical fitness and mental health of our teachers is an integral part of the teaching staff welfare. In related news, Wakili Fred Odumo Nying’uro a short while ago sent a message of goodwill to Kenyans from all walks of life. He urged them to be bold and vigilant in the face of a global economic crunch.

Odumo said this nation will remain a land of the free only as long as the citizens embrace bravery.

Mashujaa day is marked on the 20th day of October each year to commemorate heroes in various fields including those who fought for Kenya’s independence.

Former President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta introduced a rotational system where each county gets a chance to host the celebrations. This year’s Mashujaa Day national celebrations will be marked in Kwale County.

During this year’s celebrations 142 Kenyan heroes are slated to be feted.
