A number of leading dignitaries from Nyakach Constituency have expressed gratitude over the highly successful free eye camp organised by Kisumu County Senatorial aspirant Fred Odumo Nying’uro.

The exercise held at the Pap Onditi social hall attracted community members from all walks of life and in particular the aged.

Area Member of Parliament applauded the efforts by Bloom Surgical Centre in conjunction with Fred Odumo Nying’uro for offering the vital service. “This is a move in the right direction and on behalf of my constituents I must say a big thank you to Wakili.,” said Mr. Joshua Aduma Owuor.

Eldoret-based opthalmologist Dr. Adede termed the venture a breakthrough in community-based healthcare and urged local leaders to emulate the example set by Wakili.

Even those who are in support of other contestants in the Kisumu Senatorial race were quick to acknowledge that the Free Eye camp was not only a success but a precursor to community networking in health matters.

“This is a breakthrough in taking medical care to those who need it most,” said an agent to a Kisumu County Senatorial aspirant who is considered to be the most credible opponent to Mr. Odumo, adding “Together let’s weave a tapestry of progress, where every man’s potential is not just recognized, but celebrated. On this one, hats off to our opponent!”.

The free optical care camp at Pap Onditi today marked a departure on the perception of many that Fred Odumo Nying’uro is not ‘a Nairobi person’ as certain detractors deposed, but an innovative down-to-earth man who can lead with grace and determination. Screening was done for common opthalmological deficiencies and referrals were made for serious conditions. The elderly were also equipped with reading glasses.

The turnout from early dawn to dusk was impressive with some patients coming from as far away as neighbouring constituencies.

Women, youth and the elderly have urged Fred Odumo Nying’uro to make the eye camp a regular event in the calendar.
