Mzee Ombee Chika was the head of the Nyakach Ogai Luo Council of Elders and a distinguished member of the larger Luo Council of Elders.
While paying tribute to the deceased incoming Kisumu Senator Fred Odumo Nying’uro described him as a man who had left behind a legacy of unity, integrity and devotion to tradition.

“We pledge to carry his spirit to the Senate, working tirelessly to uplift Kisumu’s future while upholding the values of our heritage,” said Odumo Nying’uro.
Also present was area Member of Parliament Joshua Aduma Owuor and Member of County Assembly Lumumba Owade.
Mzee Ombee Chika was eulogised as a man who stood up for justice and embracing change while upholding the rich Luo cultural heritage.
He leaves behind a large family and fond memories amongst friends and relatives.
