Nairobi’s Chief Environment Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, has broken his silence over the serious accusations made by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino. In a viral video, Owino accused Mosiria of sexual abuse, claiming he had been expelled from the University of Nairobi (UoN) over the allegations but was later reinstated after Owino’s intervention.
Instead of confronting the MP directly, Mosiria has turned to his alma mater, UoN. Through a legal letter to the university, Mosiria is demanding clarification on whether he was indeed expelled and if those actions were linked to the allegations made by Babu Owino. The letter, which was sent by Mosiria’s lawyer, Otieno Mokaya, states that these claims could seriously damage Mosiria’s reputation and career.
The viral video that sparked the controversy showed Owino claiming Mosiria was expelled from UoN after sexually assaulting a second-year student. Owino further alleged that he had to step in and have Mosiria reinstated. The video has been widely shared on social media platforms like Facebook, X, Tiktok, and WhatsApp, causing significant public concern.
In his letter to the university, Mosiria stresses the importance of a timely response to protect his rights, image, and career. Mosiria, who was a student at UoN from 2011 to 2014, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is now asking UoN to confirm whether he was expelled, and if so, whether it was connected to the serious allegations made by Owino.
