Siaya lifted the trophy in Kitui and Makueni KMCF competitions respectively.
Siaya as well scooped several awards in the 96th edition of KMCF held in Makueni.
The cultural event that was held in Wote Technical Training Institute saw Siaya registering wins in 72 items.
The county managed to bring home 15 trophies and 90 certificates with Siaya County emerging the best in the set piece presentation as defending champions having emerged the best at KMCF competitions held the previous year in Kitui.
Some of the teams enlisted to compete in the 97th KMCF competitions are Yieke group, Promethean Minds Alyp Theatre, Komala Band, PMC choir among others.
According to Siaya Tourism, Culture and Sports Executive Anjeline Oduor, the team is set, yet again, to make Siaya proud.
Ms Oduor noted, however, that she won’t be joining the team because she and others will be busy with preparations for the Piny Luo event, Migwena Cultural event and official opening of Siaya Stadium.
“We have sent them off to Taita Taveta and expect them to return home with several trophies as has been the norm,” said Ms. Oduor adding that though she will not be part of the entourage to witness the multiple victories in Taita Taveta she still wished them all the best.
“Rest assured that the Governor, His Excellency James Aggrey Bob Orengo has sent you sincere wishes of good luck. Observe discipline and lift the Siaya flag high up as you’ve done in previous competitions,” said Oduor.
She also lauded the great performance by Siaya Choir at the just concluded KICOSCA events at Mumias in Kakamega County.
In the Set piece presentation, Siaya emerged 4th best while own Composition and Taarab-borrowed dance were 6th and 7th respectively.
Director Culture Dr Ken Oreyo is optimistic that Siaya will emerge victorious in all presentations.
“We have landed safely and have familiarised ourselves with the Taita Taveta hall that will present part of the items,” said Omamo.
“We have prepared adequately for the items and ready to battle it out with other competitors,” said Omamo.
To mimic the words of German Philosopher, Arthur Schopenhanler – music is the food of the soul.
The Kenya Music and Cultural Festival has provided the competitors not only with a platform for choirs to showcase their talents, professionalism and versatility but also act as a conduit for cultural exchange amongst Kenya’s vast ethnic backgrounds.
This year’s event is guaranteed to be a bigger crowd puller and each choir is expected to belt their hearts out.
The event equally provides the opportunity to showcase the rich coral life and diversity of choral music from various counties.
The County Government of Taita Taveta warmly invites counties and communities to the Kenya National Music and Cultural Festival taking place from 1st to 10th December 2024 at the Taita Taveta National Polytechnic, Voi (C.I.T).
This is more than a festival; it’s a celebration of Kenya’s rich cultural heritage. Come move to the rhythm, experience the beauty of our traditions, and celebrate unity in diversity.
