Gachagua to address the Nation on Impeachment and Life as A civilian

Former Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua will today get a unique opportunity to address the nation when hosted on national broadcaster NTV.

The last time the fiery Gachagua was live on TV Kenyans were treated to a show of obstinacy and chest-thumping where the host posed a question whether he considered resignation as an option and he shot back with derisive laughter that those floating that option did not know “the real Gachagua.”

He claimed that he was there to stay only to be subjected days later to a cataclysm of events which saw him unceremoniously removed and replaced with Prof Kithure Kindiki.

Having displayed a shocking amount of arrogance during his tenure in office, Gachagua now suffers both an identity and acclimatization crisis. His cries that the state is hounding him are met with derision since at one point he publicly claimed to be a shareholder in state machinery.

While addressing a rally in Vihiga during ODM Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi’s thanksgiving ceremony, Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga said the former DP should stop whining since he was getting a dose of what he had subjected others to.

Wanga was referring to an incident in Limuru where Gachagua escaped from a burial under a hail of stones and plastic chairs.

“It has never been easy being outside government,” said Wanga adding “When you were chasing away Baba (Raila Odinga) and even firing bullets at his vehicle and chest thumping, it all seemed good. Now they just throw a few stones at you and you go crying all over town. Man up, after all aren’t you the same son of Mau-mau who went about bragging of laying traps for Raila at State House?”

Gachagua also faces a leadership crisis in the Mount Kenya region where his efforts to unseat former president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta as regional kingpin have always faltered.

Tonight he may have a chance to reinvent himself but it’s doubtful Kenyans are going to buy his playing victim card.

Meanwhile, a section of youth active on social media continues portraying Gachagua as a martyr. In their hatred of the Ruto leadership they have portrayed Gachagua as a champion of some obscure democratic ideal.

Whatever happens tonight, it will be a defining moment for revealing the Gachagua Kenyans should expect to know going forward.
