The President of the Institute of Engineering Kenya (IEK) Eng. Shammah Kiteme has warned Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi not to dare use the prefix Engineer (Eng.) as a title before his name.
Kiteme clarified that the prefix Eng. is protected by law and cannot be used by anyone who has not earned it through eight years of study.
Kiteme expressed disappointment over the use of the “Engineer” title in the honorary doctorate degree awarded to Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi earlier today.
In a hard-hitting statement issued earlier this evening Kiteme said:
“Please note the initial Eng. before anyone’s name is protected by law; Engineers Act 2011. It takes at least 8 years of hard work to earn it. Oscar Sudi please stop this disrespectful use of the title you haven’t earned,” read part of the statement.
Oscar Kipchumba Sudi was awarded an honorary doctorate degree on Saturday, December 21, at a graduation ceremony held at the Eldoret National Polytechnic.
Details have revealed that the degree which arbitrarily refers to the Kapsaret MP as Hon. Eng. Oscar Kipchumba Sudi was awarded by Northeastern Christian University. It recognizes Sudi in the sphere of Leadership, Administration, and Management.
The award has drawn the ire of a cross section of Kenyans since Sudi is known for buffoonery and faking papers when it comes to matters education.
