The bill was earlier sponsored to Parliament by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and it was rejected in totality.

“The bill will not see the light of day even if it’s brought back secretly,” said Orengo.

The Siaya Governor who was addressing mourners at the burial of Eric Otieno Nyanjom in East Gem Ward of Siaya County on Saturday said for Kenya to prosper economically it requires good governance and not political shenanigans.

“Let those entrusted with power concentrate on issues that add value to the lives of Kenyans and not spend unnecessary time on meaningless debate. Looking at the mess in the political arena, we don’t need an increase of the term, perhaps a decrease would suffice.”

Orengo said that some sponsored busybodies were claiming that the bill is already in the assembly and will be published. We will be a crazy country, the Senior Counsel said, if we went ahead to increase term limits with the kinds of problems Kenyans are facing.

Orengo was accompanied by Roots Party leader Prof. George Wajakoyah who vowed to dislodge President Ruto out of power come 2027.

Wajakoyah said he was busy reviving campaign structures in parts of the country so as to meet head on with the head of state at the ballot box.

Votes that were cast in favour of Wajakoyah in the 2022 polls were 61,969 placing him fourth in the Presidential race.”

Siaya Woman Representative Christine Ombaka on her part regretted on the low enrolment of students from luo community in public universities.

Ombaka revealed that during her time at the university majority of students were from the Luo community something that is not common today in public universities.

“I want to ask parents not to tire but to keep on investing in their children’s education,” she said.
