Orengo Hints at Transforming Bondo into Business Capital of Siaya County

Orengo who praised residents of Bondo sub-County for their steadfast support of his administration and continued hard work said it was high time to develop Siaya county’s business hub in Bondo.

The sub-County will now benefit from wider road access networks, additional financial and trade amenities to attract investors as well as increased lighting to rump up security.

Governor Orengo was speaking at Bar-Kowino in North Sakwa on Thursday when he rolled out the construction of a model Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centre. During the groundbreaking ceremony the Governor said the Nyalore administration will initiate similar learning centers across the county.

Private investors have taken the initiative to transform Bondo into an urban metropolis.

Each model ECDE center will have a one storied-building with all learning classes of Playground, Pre-primary 1 and Pre-primary 2 being housed on the ground floor while offices and stores on the upper floor.

Orengo further reiterated his earlier commitment to the construction of a modern market in Bondo as well as completing modern fish landing sites in Wich Lum, Asembo Bay and Usenge.

He said as a nucleus of trade Bondo sub-County will now attract enhanced water services and other key projects of the Nyalore manifesto to help spur economic growth.

Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were County Secretary Joseph Ogutu, CECM Education Edgar Otumba and Lands CECM Maurice Otieno McOrege.

Also present were Health CECM Martin K’Onyango, Bondo sub-County Administrator, Vincent Kanyang’onda, Bondo Municipality board chair Dr. Agola, the Municipality Manager Mr Philip Mbindio and other senior departmental heads.

Members of County Assembly for North Sakwa, Oliver Arika, South Sakwa Eunice Ndolo, West Sakwa Truphosa Osewe Odinga, Ugunja Ward Martin Otieno, West Ugenya Ward Oduor Odongo and the maverick Yimbo East MCA Francis Otiato graced the occasion.
