Orengo Sells Siaya As Potential Investment Hub at Nyanza International Investment Conference

Siaya Governor James Aggrey Bob Orengo today called for enhanced trade and investment opportunities for Siaya at the ongoing Nyanza International Investment Conference.

The event being held at Ciala Resort Hotel in Kisumu County has attracted Governors and their delegations, businesspeople, investors and non-governmental organisations.

Orengo urged participants to capitalize on the region’s rapid economic growth. He emphasized investment in sectors such as trade, industry, tourism, and agriculture, highlighting their potential to generate employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for local residents.

The Siaya delegation was led by Governor Orengo and County Secretary Mr. Joseph Ogutu.

Also present was the CEO Siaya Public Service Board Wilfred Nyagudi, Education, Youth Affairs, Gender, and Social Services Executive Dr. Edgar Otumba, and Director of Public Communication Mr. Chrispine Omondi, among other officials.

The three-day event, which commenced on Thursday was today graced by Deputy President Prof. Abraham Kindiki Kithure. The conference closes tomorrow with an address by the African Union Commission Chairperson candidate Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga.

The thematic areas this high-level economic gathering aims to address include trade investment, industrial revolution, tourism, maritime affairs, and mining, among other significant economic sectors relevant to the six counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and Homa Bay.

In attendance are all the Lake Region Economic Block (LREB) governors led by Chairman, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka. Representatives from the National Government included Cabinet Secretaries Hon. John Mbadi (Finance and Economic Planning), Hon. Alice Wahome (Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development), and Hon. Lee Kinyanjui (Trade and Investment). Also present are members of the diplomatic community, along with various other County and National Government officials.
