In the just announced 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) Examinations the top candidate has scored 428 marks. Michael Warutere from Riara School is the leading candidate.
Another 9,354 candidates who missed the last 8-4-4 Primary School National Assessment test will take a special sitting of KCPE in January 2024, announced Education Cabinet Secretary Machogu.
Some 1,415,315 candidates registered for the KCPE examinations this year.
Speaking on a national TV station the top student Michael Warutere said he wants to join Mang’u High School for his Secondary schooling.
Warutere who scored 428 marks out of 500 said he was sweetly surprised as he did not expect to be the top student in the country.
“Imekuwa ajabu kubwa sana kujiona niko hapa. Naomba niende Mang’u kusoma masomo ya upili”, he said.
