Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo Ochieng Akuba has laughed off the possibility of Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka defeating president Ruto in the 2027 Elections.
Calling it an unrealistic dream the legislator said Mr Kalonzo was in the calibre of competing him and not the president.
The MP was speaking at a fundraising event for Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu County.
“I want to tell you that Kalonzo is a lightweight and cannot match President Ruto’s political prowess. I can tell you freely that if he has any sense he should come and compete with me, instead,” Elisha told the attentive crowd.
Meanwhile, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo while speaking at the same function urged mainstream churches to be vigilant and take the lead in promoting the true gospel among members of the public.
He blamed churches for taking a backseat while there was a proliferation of cult-like faiths in the country that have led to the lose of lives.
“I want to assure you that as we clean the faith space, we want to work with mainstream churches toward this. Had the church taken the lead, we would not have had false beliefs like Shakahola and I want to appeal to mainstream churches to take the lead to preach the true gospel as it is,” said the PS.
PS Omollo who was the Principal Guest at the function was accompanied by his counterpart Prof Julius Bitok, Governors Jonathan Bii Chelilim (Uasin Gishu), Prof Hillary Barchok (Bomet), and Elgeyo Marakwet’s Wisely Rotich. Others were MPs David Kiplagat (Soy), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), and Julius Rutto (Kesses) among others.
