A short while ago two key suspects in the murder of Uganda’s steeplechase runner, Benjamin Kiplagat, have been arrested.

The suspects were arrested in Kitale and Turkana. Kiplagat has been residing in Eldoret, Kenya where he was stabbed on the night of the 30th of December 2023.

Morbid details have now emerged on how the athlete met his death.

Moiben Sub-county Police Commander Stephen Okal has unravelled the mystery by providing details obtained from scrutiny of  CCTV footage.

Addressing an exclusive interview with media this morning (the 1st day of January 2024)  Okal disclosed that a deep stab wound was discovered on the chest of the Ugandan athlete Benjamin Kiplagat.

The police commander further notified the public that upon scrutiny of the CCTV footage, another deep cut was spotted on the neck of Benjamin Kiplagat, thus narrowing his cause of death to a potential stab by the perpetrators of his heinous murder.

The police also said that Kiplagat’s vehicle hit the motorcycle the perpetrators used to block his vehicle before committing the murder.

Mr. Okal, who was speaking in the morning before the two suspects were apprehended lauded the police for mounting an extensive manhunt for the murderers.

The results paid off and two suspects are already in police custody in relation to the murder.
