The ODPP further directed the Inspector General of Police to forward the Murder Inquiry File within seven days in a communication dated Wednesday 3 January 2023.

According to the postmortem report, Muthiani died of asphyxia secondary to manual strangulation. It is believed that he was subjected to torture and a chemical with acidic properties used to mutilate part of his lower face.
Mr Vincent Muriithi Kirimi alias Supuu O Mioro was arrested and charged with murder under Miscellaneous Application E166 of 2023 at Maua Law Courts. He was subsequently released on cash bail.
The ODPP has however ascertained that Vincent Muriithi Kirimi was rearrested on Tuesday 2 January, 2024 and will remain in police custody until the matter is brought before court.
