As Kenyans grapple with a crippled economy, trigger-happy Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa (whose monthly salary barely grazes $4,000) has just brought in a five-seat Robinson R66 helicopter.
The chopper falls under special equipment with an obscure Harmonized System (HS) code that shields it from the same harsh taxes currently suffocating his constituents.
On 20 July 2023 after ten months of trial a court in Bungoma shockingly dropped murder charges against MP Didmus Barasa.
The court found that the prosecution did not present enough evidence.
Delivering her judgment Lady Justice Rose Ougo said the prosecution produced insufficient evidence.
In the case, Barasa had been accused of shooting Brian Olunga in the forehead at a public place and killing him on the spot.
The offence was committed on August 9,2022 in broad daylight when the accused Didmus Barasa allegedly shot Brian Olunga in the head at close range.
