Long-standing Siaya Township Ward MCA James Obiero Otare on Friday continued with his annual school uniforms distribution program at his Mwalimu Plaza office in Siaya town.
This is one of the unique tactics the veteran politician has applied for his stranglehold on the affairs of Siaya town. The other is creating conflict with authorities to retain relevance.
His last run-in with the authorities was last year when he appeared before Siaya Principal Magistrate Benjamin Limo charged that on July 19, 2023, in Siaya town, he convened an unlawful assembly which led to unlawful damage of property.
James Obiero Otare survives on hype and publicity often conducting illegal assemblies and leading youth in riots to create the appearance of a politician with a strong grassroots following.
Recently his name was mentioned in connection with misappropriation of burial funds for the late Douglas Odero Spoiler.

Although he comes from a modest academic background, Mr. Otare is currently one of the key players in the boardroom politics of the Siaya County Government.
