The political drama in the Mount Kenya region is taking a queer turn with Ruto’s diehard supporter and sworn enemy of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro getting the endorsement of 18 UDA Party legislators.
It’s a queer turn because the ebullient Gachagua is now seemingly being sidelined, not only by his boss but by his people as well.
Political pundits think this is for the good of the UDA Party’s survival against an upcoming onslaught by Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party in Central Kenya. Gachagua’s image has been tainted by fighting one of their own kamwene (which is an unforgivable sin in Kikuyu fraternal circles).
It is because of Gachagua’s presumptuous attitude that Maina Njenga has been unleashed on him. The oathing and return to the shrine of Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga are symbolisms that Gachagua is on his way out, at least as far as his tribesmen are concerned.
But replacing Gachagua with Ndindi Nyoro is a rather irksome option. Anyone with a memory still recalls a video clip of a fully grown Ndindi Nyoro running beside then Deputy President Ruto’s car during the campaigns for the 2022 presidential elections.
Ndindi Nyoro in central Kenya is an extension of Dr. William Samoei Ruto, and the Kikuyu are shrewd enough to see that. Just looking at the MPs who travelled to Kiharu Constituency to endorse Ndindi Nyoro gives one a clear indication of who is pulling the strings behind the scenes.
The following UDA MPs were present at Mumbi Grounds in Kiharu Constituency, where speakers endorsed area MP Ndindi Nyoro as the successor to President William Ruto in 2032.
