Playing under an interim coach Tanzania held Zambia to a 1—1 draw in one of the most intense matches on the second week of Group F.
Tanzania’s national coach Adel Amrouche was suspended when he claimed that “Morocco had influences in the AFCON” (following their 0-3 defeat to Morocco).
The team looked upbeat, however, and in the 11th minute, Simon Msuva, a player who has been without a club since last year, broke the deadlock with a powerful shot, celebrating with an acrobatic display.
Despite being a man down following Roderick Kabwe’s expulsion in the 44th minute, Zambia managed to level the match with a goal from Patson Daka in the 88th minute, just two minutes before the end of regular time.
Currently, Zambia is tied on points with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (two units), while Tanzania sits at the bottom of the group with a single point. Morocco leads the group with four points, leaving everything open for the final match.
