Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party  leaders have lauded James Orengo’s administration for its quality stadium project saying it would be s huge source of revenue.

Led by Migori Senator Eddy Okech, Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, they said they are impressed with the quality project that would be key stream of revenue to the county.

The project when completed will help in the development of youths talents and increase business investment opportunities.

Any doubts with what devolution can do to Kenyan citizens at the grassroots level have been dispelled by witnessing such huge project with massive investment potential guaranteeing good revenue.

“Siaya will also host national events courtesy of the stadium,” the leaders said.

Owili said devolution must be guarded jealously and any attempts to have it frustrated must be tamed.

“There are visible socio-economic projects at the counties and that manifests how important devolution is,” said Owili.

Otiende who was equally impressed by the stadium project assured Governor Orengo that he will lobby the teams to play in the new grounds.

This is a project of it’s kind in the region. Its works and fittings are impressive and not the kind of fittings witnessed in stadiums countrywide.

“Going by the anticipated population that will frequent the stadium, the beams and fittings must be exceptionally solid otherwthen they get damaged very quickly. We just request the contractor to maintain the standards” said Otiende.
“There is alot of space that can be used not only for sporting activities but other businesses that would add value and revenue to the county,” said Otiende
Oketch lauded Orengo’s administration for investing in such huge stadium project.
It will not only attract sporting activities but also contributes revenues to the county,” added Okech.
Such projects proves what devolution can do at the grassroots and will stop at nothing till we push resources to get to counties
“We shall increase our efforts in pushing for more resources to get to the counties,” said Okech.
Orengo has tasked Bunge FC captain Otiende Amollo to lobby it’s members to play against an East African team during the inauguration of Siaya stadium scheduled for August this year
Orengo said Bunge FC-a combined football teams of members of Parliament and Senate are best team to take on any East African team in a new playing ground.
“I want Otiende to persuade Bunge FC to help launch the stadia before Our own Gor mahia entatain Siaya residents with thrilling match.
The parliamentary team has been seriously training under captency of Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.
The in the team includes Peter Silasya, David Gikari, Musili Mwadhe, Muhammad Ali, Peter Kaluma, David Ochieng, Anthony Kibagendi, Maurice Kaikai, Nelson Wanami and Omboko Milemba.
Orengo who was touring the stadia project was impressed by the construction works saying the contractor workmanship is good.
“We are proud of work done interms of concepts and the architecture of the stadium and what is turning out to be,” said Orengo adding that interms of track and field work, it’s possible that we have the best in the region
The county boss said the pavilion it’s huge and we intend to use all the space.
Orengo who was accampanied by Otiende, Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and Migori MP Eddy Oketch said by August the stadium with a capacity of 20,000.
He further lauded the contractor for jumpstarting the project and expediiring it after delaying for years.
“We decided to terminate contract of the fist Chinese contractor doing the project and the one that assumed the job has proved that they have capacity,” said Orengo.
Otiende who was equally impressed by the stadia project assured Governor Orengo that he will lobby the team to play in the new grounds.
“Your (Orengo) request for Bunge FC is assured, once you are ready just notify me ,” he added.
