Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine has been hospitalised following a shooting incident in Bulindo area of Uganda.

The politician is said to have sustained gunshot wounds on the foot after a police officer, allegedly, aimed a live firearm at him.

The National Unity Platform political party which he leads has issued a statement through Bobi Wine’s social media administrator saying the politician was injured from a bullet shot and has been rushed to an unspecified hospital for treatment.

The musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, famously known as Bobi Wine is currently a thorn-in-the-flesh of president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as his popularity keeps growing despite state persecution.

“Our President Bobi Wine has been shot in the leg by police in Bulindo! He’s been rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention. We’ll keep the country updated on his situation,” the statement on X read.

The National Unity Platform political party has shared photos of the police officer above as responsible for the shooting of Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine is a Ugandan activist, politician, singer, lawyer, and actor. He is a former Member of Parliament for Kyadondo County East constituency in Wakiso District, in Uganda’s Central Region.

Bobi Wine is also the leader of the National Unity Platform political party.

In June 2019, he announced his candidacy for the 2021 Ugandan presidential election.

He participated in the 2021 election but lost to the current President, Yoweri Museveni.

Bobi Wine is often outspoken about political and social issues in Uganda, generating great controversy.
