Siaya County Government will be providing free obstetrics and gynaecological medical services at a camp to be set up at Madiany sub-County Hospital beginning Monday 23 to Thursday 26 September ahead of the launch of the Madiany Maternity Theatre.

The modern maternity facility was set up to improve maternal and perinatal health and well-being and help in ending preventable maternal mortality which has been a problem in the wider Siaya County. It will be officially launched on September 25, 2024.

The camp will run from 8 am to 5 pm daily. The first two days will be set aside for screening, diagnosis and booking of obstetrics and gynaecology cases while the last two days will be dedicated to theatre operation for the booked surgical cases that will have been screened in the first two days.

Specialist services that will be offered during the medical camp include obstetrics and gynaecology consultation, cervical and breast cancer screening.

There will also be obstetric and pelvic ultrasound services provided.

Finally the screened medical, obstetric and gynaecology cases will be subjected to a treatment regimen complete with follow-up. Cases that will be handled include abnormal uterine bleeding, STIs and non-STIs, anaemia in pregnancy among others.

Surgical operations that will be performed include elective C/S, uterine fibroids removal, bilateral tubal ligation among others.

This is one among many initiatives of the Nyalore Administration that has been lauded as timely and thoughtful.

Apart from health, Governor Orengo, has prioritized education and agriculture as key areas for development in his first term.
