Gachagua is forestalling his expected appearance before the National Assembly on Tuesday 8 October 2024 where an impeachment motion against him has been tabled by Kibwezi West MP Mutuse Mwengi.
The motion outlines 11 serious charges; among them abuse of office, corruption, and violation of the Constitution of Kenya.
While attending a church service on Sunday the DP ate humble pie and openly apologized to his boss, President Ruto. The relationship between the two, however, now appears irreparable.
Nonetheless, the public participation process initiated by the courts for the DPs removal boomeranged as Kenyans were of the opinion that if Gachagua goes, so does Ruto.
The carefully worded press invite issued by the DP does not indicate whether he will be resigning. However, popular public speculation is that he has only one choice – resignation or waddling deeper into the quagmire of controversy surrounding him.
Interestingly Gachagua has cultivated last minute admiration among the Gen Z and if he decides to play the devil he may turn tables and rally support for the youth who have been calling the government to accountability.
