Parents Delighted As Kisumu Politician Pays Complete School Fees for 25 Secondary School Students

Excitement prevailed Saturday afternoon at the Kokwayo Catholic Church in Kakmie Ward of Nyando sub-County in Kisumu County as popular politician Fred Odumo Nying’uro awarded twenty-five secondary school students with full school fees.

The recipients were equally drawn from the six clans that reside within the Kakmie community. These clans are Kamuoro, Kawuor, Kogelo, Wagunda, Waondo and Kasierere.

The event was ably coordinated by Joseph Arum and Mzee Elisha Nyamita. Also present were representatives of the administration and other local political figures, as well as the parents of students who benefited from the scholarship.

While addressing the parents, teachers and students, Mr. Odumo reiterated the need to make access to education a vital need in each family in the region.

“These scholarship program has made sure that some needy students remained in school and continued learning without undue disturbances. Let me assure you that we will continue with this scholarship program until each and every child is in class.”

Odumo pledged to support the less fortunate in society through the education as well as medical programs currently run by his team.

In turn, the residents pledged to stand with him in his pursuit of the Kisumu County Senatorial seat come 2027.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon at Ikona Hotel in Kisumu County, Wakili Fred Odumo Nyinguro held consultations with officials of Kisumu County Juakali Artisan Association.

The officials were drawn from Nyando, Muhoroni, Nyakach, Kisumu East, Kisumu West and Seme Constituencies.

The meeting revolved around the economic challenges and necessary interventions in the Jua-kali sector specifically access to business financing for the artisans in areas of carpentry, welding, shoe repair, tailoring, masonry, automobile repairs among other trades.

Some of the challenges raised included the availability of substitute products from large manufacturers and the effects were importation and multiple licensing regimes.

It was resolved to form a SACCO as an intervention step for the funding challenges faced by the industry.
